As I waited for a safe moment to get back home from the Newmarket Music Fest this past weekend I spent a few minutes and spoke with a Mom who had guided her daughter on a bike across this intersection. And she like me agreed (and has been saying now for years – also like me) that the intersection of CANE PARKWAY AND WILLIAM ROE NEEDS A 3 WAY STOP.
If you have a moment check what I already wrote about this back in 2016…and 2014….
A 3- way stop and nice big and bright cross walk markings is what this should have.
Back in 2014 I posted this early on in my campaign on FB:
And today I parked there and took a few photos. And as if to prove my point that this intersection is still dangerous right after I took my last photo a mid 2000’s small sedan took the corner onto William Roe at speed, wheels chirping and as I watched the driver speed on by through the open window I could see them smiling with glee. There is no actual official crossing area to get to Tom Taylor Trail for the bulk of the neighbourhood.
Here is what I think it should look like:
This needs to be a 3 way stop. I know I am not the only person who thinks this. I do not understand why to this moment nothing has been done about this.
Too many times have I seen (or have been) someone who is crossing and then having to haul arse to avoid getting in the cross hairs of the vehicles that come whipping down around the top bend from Mulock.
